Dear Telugu Families and Friends

Summer is the time to take a breather, refresh and rejuvenate ourselves.  

There are a few announcements which TASC wish to touch on in this issue of News Letter.

We are starting our summer season with a Fantastic program. We are proud and pleased to announce STARNIGHT-2008 which will be performed by one of the brightest musicians of Telugu cinema in recent times, who has given some memorable compositions, brings young and dynamic energy to the podium with hauntingly beautiful melodies of Telugu songs.  It is in this live show, that the bridge between “heavenly” India and “earthy” American blues is most effectively built. “Telugu music moves inward” and it is traditionally used in ceremonies and it puts you into a whole other place. Telugu music has the ability to move out, into celebration and dance and it has the tendency to draw people into something really deep. We love to see that working —draw the audience as deep as possible into the music. With music, we can change things, make people feel and think.

We have planned a beautiful summer day picnic, a community-wide picnic reminiscent of the large outdoor gatherings. We want to see all Telugu people out there in Southern California to participate in this picnic, which is a vital part of the social fabric of the Telugu community and this year's event, will recreate those fun-loving celebrations and provide a vehicle for individuals, families and groups to meet and get re-acquainted. There will be games for children and adults. You can have fun and catch up with lost friends.

Please SPREAD THE WORD to anyone and everyone you think is willing to participate and attend.

Our belief is that the role of TASC should be proactive in creating new vision for the future of Telugu community. TASC has developed strong community support by sponsoring many charitable events and now looking forward to provide services to the needy.
It is our goal during this year to setup a TASC Help and Advice line offering support on issues that directly affects the lives of Telugu people and their families. TASC will refer and guide the people to the variety of services that may be able to help them. Sometimes just talking with someone who understands is helpful and reassuring.

Last, but not least, I want to give a BIG THANK-YOU to all those that have volunteered to assist the organization. These people are kind enough to sacrifice their personal time working on the programs that TASC will be able to bring to our community.
