TELUGU ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

ARTICLE I
NAME
The name of the organization shall be "TELUGU ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA" herein after referred to as "T.A.S.C." T.A.S.C. shall be member organization of Telugu Association on North America, otherwise known as T.A.N.A.
ARTICLE II
OFFICIES
The principal office of the Association shall be located in the county of Los Angeles. The association may have the said office outside the county of Los Angeles as may be determined by the Executive Committee from time to time.
ARTICLE III
GOAL
To promote, preserve the present various aspects of the Telugu life and fine arts of Andhra Pradesh such as music, dance, drama and literary activities in the community of Southern California.
ARTICLE IV
OBJECTIVES
Section(a): To provide a forum for exchange of information and mutual cooperation amongst sister organizations across the nation including T.A.N.A.
Section(b): To act as an agency to collect and transfer funds for humanitarian causes at the discretion of the Executive Committee.
Section (c):To conduct language, music and dance classes and occasionally arrange cultural events, picnics, screening of Telugu movies, recitals and concerts of famous exponents of music and dance, etc., for the benefit of Telugu people in Southern California.
Section (d): To help fellow members of the community in the event of disaster and calamity.
ARTICLE V
MEMBERSHIP
The membership is open to every one interested in Telugu culture and supports its objectives.
ARTICLE VI
EXCUTIVE COMMITTEE
Section (a):The officers of T.A.S.C. Executive Committee shall consist of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Joint Secretary, Treasurer and previous year's President and Secretary. They are the governing body of T.A.S.C.
ARTICLE VII
RULES
The latest edition of Robert's Rules of Order shall be the authority on all questions of procedure, not specifically stated these bylaws.
ARTICLE VIII
DUTIES OF OFFICERS
Section (a): The President shall preside over the meetings and shall have the authority to appoint an advisory committee as needed,. He shall also represent and act as the Executive officer of T.A.S.C. at all public functions.
Section (b): The Vice-President shall assist the President and shall serve in the absence of the President and vote as delegated by him.
Section (C): The Secretary shall keep accurate minutes of all meetings of Executive Committee and maintain official and non-official records.
Section (d): The joint Secretary shall assist Secretary in the Execution of his duties and act in his behalf in his absence, whenever necessary.
Section (e): The Treasurer shall be responsible for maintaining proper records of the funds and the membership donations and the financial records of T.A.S.C. He or she shall be responsible for the disbursement of all monies. The Treasurer or the President can authorize a payment of upto maximum of fifty dollars. Payments of more than fifty dollars must be approved by the Executive Committee. All disbursements on behalf of T.A.S.C. will be executed in the form of checks, duly, signed by the treasurer of T.A.S.C. however, such disbursements and money transactions shall be approved by the President of the Association.
ARTICLE IX
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Section (a): The officers of the T.A.S.C. shall be elected for a term of one year, through ballot in each category on the basis of highest number of votes received either by mail or in person at a meeting, called specifically to conduct the elections, provided a quorum is present. In order to get a quorum, such election meetings can be combined with any of social events.
Section (b): In order to be eligible to contest for any office to vote, one has to be a member of T.A.S.C. in good standing for atlest ninety days immediately preceding the call for nominations.
Section (c): Should any of the elected office bearers decline to assume responsibilities of his or declared elected to that office.
Section (d): Prior to the expiration of the term of their office the elected officers shall be responsible for conducting elections of the officer of T.A.S.C. for the following year.
Section (e): The term of the Executive Committee can be extended for one more year if the majority of general body expresses confidence in them by voice vote, which should be done before November 30 th of the year.
Section (g): The term of office shall be considered as calendar year January to December and the elections shall be conducted on a suitable date in December of every year.
ARTICLE X
BUSINESS MEETING
Section (a): The Executive Committee of T.A.S.C. shall hold atleast six meetings during the year to conduct the business, making sure that atleast one of those meetings is a general body meeting.
Section (b): For the purpose of voting at general body meetings on amendments or any other decisions, a family is entitled to two votes and an individual to one vote.
ARTICLE XI
FISCAL PROCEDURES
Section (a): The fiscal year shall be from January 1 st December 31 st .
Section (b): The President and the treasurer of T.A.S.C. shall be the joint signatories for operating the ban account.
ARTICLE XII
DUES AND DONATIONS
Section (a): The annual dues shall be paid in the month of January. The amount shall be fifteen dollars ($15.00) per family and ten dollars ($10.00) per individual per year. For the purpose of dues, a family is defined as wife and husband and unmarried children.
Section (b): membership is recognized after the payment of appropriated dues. A receipt to this effect will be issued to all the members. / donors.
Section (c): An individual or a family joining the T.A.S.C. between January 1 st and June 30 th of any year shall be required to any full amount of the dues for that year. An individual or a family joining between July 1 st and December 31 st of the year shall pay one -half of the amount of annual dues, namely $5.00 per individual and $7.50 per family.
Section (d): members shall be entitled to certain concessionaire privileges at cultural programs and movies at the discretion of the Executive Committee members.
ARTICLE XIII
QUORUM
Quorum for business of T.A.S.C. shall consist of twenty-five percent (25%) of the paid membership.
ARTICLE XIV
AMENDMENTS
Section (a) Any amendments to the Bylaws of T.A.S.C. must be submitted in writing atleast two weeks prior to the meeting in order to qualify for the consideration. Amendments are to be voted at the meeting.
Section (b): Passage of amendments must have the approval of simple majority of those members present and voting, provided a quorum is present.

That I, the undersigned, the duly elected and acting as Secretary of Telugu Association of Southern California do hereby certify, that the above and foregoing code of bylaws were submitted to the members at their meeting held 12 th day of March 1983 and was ratified by vote of members entitled to exercise.
